Ekibastuz GRES-1 is the largest thermal power plant in Kazakhstan with an installed capacity of 4,000 MW, operating around the clock.
In order to continue its legitimate environmental activities, the company had to obtain an environmental impact permit for a category I facility that meets the updated requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The task was to:
- preparation of a package of environmental documents for the period 2026-2030;
- development of standards of permissible emissions;
- Drawing up a waste management program (ISM);
- creation of an industrial environmental control (ECM) program;
- coordination of all materials with government agencies and obtaining a positive conclusion of the state environmental assessment.
What did the JasylMeken team do?
We conducted an inventory of the sources of emissions.
Developed:
- Standards of permissible emissions (NDV);
- Waste Management Program (ESM);
- the program of industrial environmental control (PEC).
We conducted a simulation of the dispersion of pollutants and calculations using licensed software.
We have prepared electronic templates and documents for the e-licensing portal.
Result:
- The environmental permit was received without any comments.
- The project has passed the state expertise.
- The environmentally safe operation of the plant has been ensured until 2030.
