Draft standards of permissible discharges (VAT) in mine and domestic wastewater of the Shalkiya deposit of JSC “Shalkiya Zinc LTD” for 2025-2032.

The draft standards of permissible discharges of pollutants in wastewater (discharges No. 1 and No. 2) was developed to ensure environmental safety at the Shalkiya deposit for the period 2025-2032.

In order to ensure environmental safety and rational water use on the territory of the Shalkiya deposit, a draft standards of permissible discharges (VAT) of pollutants in mine and domestic wastewater for discharges No. 1 and No. 2 was developed.

The project covers the period 2025-2032 and is aimed at minimizing the negative impact on the environment in the process of production activities.

Development objective:

limitation of environmental pollution by wastewater;

compliance with established standards of water protection legislation;

ensuring water quality in control sections of water bodies.

Maximum permissible discharge (MPD) standards are established as the maximum permissible mass of pollutants discharged into water bodies per unit of time under a certain operating mode, taking into account the preservation of sanitary and environmental standards.

The project was completed in accordance with:

Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 02.01.2021;

Water Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 09.07.2003 (as amended on 04.04.2024);

Methodology for determining emission standards into the environment (Order No. 63 dated 10.03.2021);

Sanitary rules and requirements for water sources and water supply (Order of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 26 dated 20.02.2023);

Rules for the reception of wastewater in wastewater disposal systems (Order of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 546 dated 20.07.2015);

Unified classifications of water quality and building codes SNiP and SN RK.

Within the framework of the project:

sources of wastewater and their qualitative composition were analyzed;

permissible concentrations of pollutants were calculated;

measures to comply with the established discharge standards were determined;

a schedule for monitoring and control over the state of discharged water was proposed.

The development of this project confirms the environmental responsibility of Shalkiya Zinc LTD JSC and is aimed at the sustainable development of the enterprise in compliance with all requirements of the environmental legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
