The company “Zhasyl Meken”

The company “Zhasyl Meken” performed work on screening the impacts of the planned activities for “GerAymak” LLP. This stage is a preliminary assessment of the environmental consequences of the implementation of the project for the reclamation of disturbed lands in areas provided for the extraction of common minerals in groundwater reserves.

The screening allowed us to determine which impact factors are most significant for this type of activity, including changes in terrain, possible contamination of soils and waters, as well as the impact on flora and fauna. The work was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the current sanitary and epidemiological rules governing the procedure for environmental impact assessment.

During the analysis, the specialists of Zhasyl Meken examined the key parameters of future activities: the scale of excavation, methods of reclamation, the nature of waste generated during mining, as well as the potential impact on the health of the population of nearby settlements.

According to the results of the screening, it was established that the project can be implemented subject to compliance with environmental requirements and the introduction of a set of measures to restore land and reduce negative impacts.

Thus, this work for GerAymak LLP has shown that screening is an important tool for early environmental assessment, which makes it possible to justify the safety of the planned activity and increase its environmental sustainability.
